*If you would like to offer A Seat at the Table for an estranged family member, we will reach out to them on your behalf through e-mail, phone call or by mail.
You don't have to have all the answers.
You don't have to know how the story will end.
You simply need a place to begin.
WHERE EVERY STORY MATTERS.
A place to listen. A place to be heard.
Estrangement is rarely about one moment.
There may be years of hurt, misunderstandings, unmet needs, broken trust, disappointment, silence, and grief underneath the distance.
And when there has been so much pain, even knowing how to begin a conversation can feel overwhelming.
That's where we come in.
We aren't here to decide who is right or wrong.
We aren't here to convince anyone to reconcile.
We're here to help two people slow things down, listen differently, and better understand one another.
Because sometimes understanding can open a door that neither person knew how to open on their own.
We begin with you.
Coming to the table can feel vulnerable.
That's why we don't begin with everyone sitting together.
We begin privately.
Whether you're a parent, grandparent, adult son or daughter, or sibling, you will first have an opportunity to tell your story.
To talk about what happened.
What has been difficult.
What you wish the other person understood.
And what you hope might be possible.
You don't have to prepare the perfect words.
We'll walk through the process with you.
1. PRIVATE REFLECTION
Each person begins with their own Pre-Conversation Reflection.
This gives you time to slow down and think through your experience before trying to explain it to someone else.
What do you want them to understand?
What have you been carrying?
What would you like to understand about their experience?
And is there anything you see differently today than you did before?
This isn't about preparing your argument.
It's about preparing your heart and your words for a different kind of conversation.
2. YOUR PRIVATE COACHING SESSION
Next, you will meet privately with a coach for one hour.
This is your time.
Together, we'll walk through your reflection, talk about the parts of the conversation that may feel difficult, and help you prepare to communicate honestly and listen openly.
The other person receives the same opportunity.
Two people.
Two experiences.
Two stories worthy of being heard.
3. WE TAKE A SEAT AT THE TABLE
When both people are ready, we come together for a guided 2-hour conversation.
You won't be expected to navigate the conversation on your own.
Your coach guides the process, slows things down when needed, asks thoughtful questions, and makes sure each person has the opportunity to speak and listen.
There is room for emotion.
There is room for questions.
There is room for different memories and perspectives.
And there is room to say:
“Help me understand.”
You may not agree about everything that happened.
That's okay.
The goal isn't to leave the table with identical stories.
The goal is to understand each other's stories a little better.
We explore what comes next.
There is no predetermined ending to A Seat at the Table.
At the end of your conversation, each person will have an opportunity to share their thoughts about moving forward.
Maybe you both want another conversation.
Maybe you want to take one small step toward rebuilding trust.
Maybe additional coaching would be helpful.
Maybe new boundaries need to be discussed.
Or maybe one of you simply needs more time.
There is no pressure to decide everything at the table.
We'll talk through the possibilities and help you consider a healthy next step based on where each person is.
It's okay to hope.
We don't want reconciliation to become a condition of coming to the table.
A Seat at the Table isn't about forcing an outcome.
It's about creating an opportunity.
An opportunity to speak.
To listen.
To understand.
To take responsibility where appropriate.
To ask questions.
To see one another beyond the estrangement.
And to consider whether there may be a path forward.
Sometimes reconciliation begins with a conversation.
Sometimes healing begins with finally being heard.
Both matter.
A mother who misses her daughter.
An adult son who wants his experience understood.
A grandmother who misses her grandchildren.
A daughter who carries hurt she hasn't known how to express.
A sibling who doesn't know how the family became so divided.
People with stories.
People with pain.
People who may still care deeply about one another.
Most people in these situations aren't waking up every morning trying to hurt someone they love.
Often, they are carrying pain of their own and trying to protect themselves the best way they know how.
Understanding that doesn't erase what happened.
But it can give us a different place from which to begin.
Our role isn't to determine who is right and who is wrong.
We are not judges, arbitrators, or mediators.
We are compassionate Transformational Life Coaches who create a structured, respectful environment where each person has the opportunity to speak honestly, listen respectfully, and better understand one another.
We won't pressure reconciliation.
We won't tell you what your relationship should look like.
We will help you have the conversation.
And then we'll help you explore what comes next.
Because although you can't change the past…
You get to explore the possibilities for the future.
